A Bit About Our History
Macedonia has a long and proud history as a faith community serving our local community and Alamance County. How long? Let's just say that we were officially received into the NC Synod in 1869 and have been active ever since!
But what we are most proud of is our tradition of serving our Lord with a sense of joy and giving. We have been instrumental in the creation of Allied Churches (our local homeless shelter), Celebration Singers (a choir known across the state for adults with developmental disabilities), HESED (a spiritual retreat for adults with IDD), The Friendship Center Adult Day Services, Twin Lakes Community (one of the country’s top continuing care retirement communities), and LEAF (Lutherans, Episcopalians and Friends, a student group at Elon University), to name a few. Macedonia is affiliated with the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and the NC Synod of the ELCA. |
